The largest necropolis in Vojvodina was discovered in Čelarevo, with graves from the 8th and 9th centuries and extraordinary finds (gold and other precious jewelry, weapons and tools). Favorable geographical position, as well as good climatic conditions (Pannonian lowlands, Danube river and slopes of Fruška Gora) represent a significant potential for tourism development in the municipality of Bačka Palanka. In the vicinity of Backa Palanka are the famous hunting grounds and picnic areas of Bagremar, Tikvar, Ristovac and Karadjordjevo.

Where to go?

HOMELAND OF FISH SOUP, SPORTS AKS AND UNIQUE VOJVODINA ART

The name Bačka Palanka first appears in 1593, and the name originated - Bačka in the Bačka region in which it is located, and Palanka from palisades - during the Ottoman Empire it was a fortress surrounded by a palisade. That is how it was created, as a military fortification that was later inhabited by the peoples who still live here today.

The Museum of Backa Palanka has evidence that people have lived in this area since the beginning of mankind, from the first people, and the archeological collection of the Museum has preserved mammoth bones, teeth of the great-great-grandmother, various jewelry and ornaments of the first civilizations, all the way to the Roman Empire. Backa Palanka is the only place in Serbia where the Kukurjak flower grows, in the Bagremara forest, as its autochthonous inhabitant.

Backa Palanka has hosted great poets, artists from one or two centuries ago. In the vicinity is the Dundjerski castle, where Laza Kostić, Paja Jovanović and other greats of the past were guests. Even today, artistic souls visit the chardas on the Danube, where memories woven into verses are created, and that is why it is said that this town is the ancestral home of fish soup.

We all know about Backa Palanka Karadjordjevo, an ideal soil for the development of a horse's hoof, which is why the famous stud farm with many trophies and medals won was created. There you can still learn horseback riding, on the Danube you can learn kayak rowing, where the world champions came from, and new ones are still emerging, where only such knowledge is passed on to the next generations. There are many reasons and many stories related to this small place seemingly dormant in the plains, when they are started by great masters with even greater talents with music, wine and waves of the Danube, they are just guys from Palanka, who represent the alas of time…
