About Gajdobra

Gajdobra is a South Bačka settlement of the Pannonian type, stationed in AP Vojvodina, Republic of Serbia. Administratively, it belongs to the Municipality of Backa Palanka, from whose seat it is 14 kilometers northeast. According to the 2011 census, there were 2,578 inhabitants. It was first mentioned in 1464, under the name Dobra. The same place is mentioned in 1554, as the settlements "Gornja Dobra" and "Donja Dobra", which are inhabited mainly by Serbs. The Germans remained in Gajdobra until 1944, when they returned to Germany, and Serbs from Bosnia and Herzegovina settled in Gajdobra. At the end of the 1990s, the Orthodox Church of St. Petra, around which the manifestation "Petrovdan festivities" is traditionally organized every year.
