Peace Sunday morning in Polojska forest near Bačke Palanke will disturb the numerous visitors who come to the traditional Festival of Sausages, Kulen and Homemade Bacon on February 3.
The organizers expect that in addition to the participants, ie competitors, over a thousand will be present here.
Miloš Popov, one of the organizers, says that every year the festival has an international character, because the competitors will come from Vukovar, Ilok, Bršadin (Croatia), but also from BiH. According to the tradition, the oak forest will smell of sausages all day long, fires will be lit, bacon will be baked…
- We have provided trophies and prizes for the winners in all three competitions, thanks to sponsors, and the patron is the local self-government - says Popov. - For a good sausage, you need quality meat, paprika, salt, so that it dries well, but all competitors must examine the meat on Trichinella with a veterinarian.
The organizers say that this sausage festival is one of the oldest manifestations of this type in Vojvodina, and it was held for the first time in 1961, when about 15 local merchants gathered. Since then, every year, in all weather conditions, the sausage festival was held in the Poloja forest.
